The chairman of Sport Wales was given a tour of a community-run leisure centre in Clwyd South.
Dr Paul Thomas visited Plas Madoc Leisure Centre on Friday with Assembly Member Ken Skates.
General manager Claire Duffy said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet Dr Thomas, give him a tour and talk about our achievements and what challenges we face going forward.
“We’d like to thank him for coming up from Cardiff to visit us. He was very interested to learn how we operate as a social enterprise, heavily relying on volunteers, fundraising and grants, with all profits going back into the running of the centre.
“Dr Thomas saw just how busy we have been over the summer holidays and how dedicated our team are to making a success of the leisure centre.”
Mr Skates was a co-founder of the Splash Community Trust, which rescued and reopened Plas Madoc after Wrexham Council wanted it demolished.
He said: “I’m extremely grateful to Dr Thomas for coming to Clwyd South and visit our fantastic leisure centre. He was very impressed with what has been achieved.”
