Clwyd South AM & MP present prize to Christmas card artist

Clwyd South’s AM and MP have congratulated the artist who designed their Christmas card.

Ken Skates and Susan Elan Jones met Larrie Beattie, chairman of Penycae Art Group, at Ruabon Library on Friday morning (December 11th).

Mr Beattie, from Penycae, was chosen as the winner of the political pair’s Clwyd South Christmas card competition for his ‘stunning’ design, which features secluded snow-covered cottages next to a winding river.

Mr Skates said: “We had some superb entries, but this one was our clear favourite – it’s stunning. I’m particularly pleased with this card, and knowing that such a fantastic picture was painted by one of our constituents is the icing on the cake.”

Ms Jones added: “It’s a beautiful design, Larrie is a very talented artist. I would like to thank him for his efforts and congratulate him on winning our competition.”

The Labour duo also met artist Laura Davies, whose exhibition at Ruabon Library runs until December 18th.
