Clwyd South Assembly Member Ken Skates praised visionary volunteers after a visit to a social enterprise in Chirk.
Labour AM Mr Skates was welcomed to Glyn Wylfa on Friday (November 21) to coincide with the Wales Co-operative Centre’s Social Enterprise Day on Thursday.
Glyn Wylfa directors Ben and Susan Williams, Clwyd South AM Ken Skates, and chairman Mick Ramsay.
Mr Skates said: “Glyn Wylfa is run by a committed team of people from the Chirk area who have used their complementary skills to refurbish and develop and the old Chirk Estate Office and surrounding site and subsequently run it as a blossoming social enterprise, with all profits being put back into the maintenance and improvement of the facility.
“The site overlooks the fantastic World Heritage site of Chirk Aqueduct, and has a business centre and a café which is open seven days a week. Glyn Wylfa’s success really is testament to what can be achieved when dedicated people with a common vision team up, and it’s a fantastic example of what a social enterprise should be.”
