CLWYD South AM Ken Skates predicted a bright future for ‘key employer’ Ifor Williams Trailers after a visit to the company’s base near Corwen.
Labour AM Mr Skates was at the headquarters of Europe’s biggest trailer maker for the international launch of four new products on Thursday morning (November 7).
He said: “Ifor Williams continues to be a key employer in Clwyd South and one I am especially proud to be associated with.
“The new trailers have been developed as a result of a considerable amount of hard work by dedicated and skilled workers in several departments at the firm’s plant here in Cynwyd, and I am sure they will help further strengthen the company’s position as a market leader both in the UK and in Europe.
“During my visit I was pleased to catch up with group design engineering manager Andrew Reece-Jones, who I met at the Eisteddfod earlier this year, and to hear how the company is continuing to thrive. Ifor Williams is a major player in the local economy and its success benefits the whole area – long may it continue.”
Mr Skates added: “Particularly important, and something which I believe will pay dividends in the future, is that Ifor Williams operates a successful apprenticeship scheme which offers crucial opportunities to young people living in the Corwen area.”
