Clwyd South Assembly Member Ken Skates has backed a new campaign encouraging consumers to go energy shopping and get the best deal on their gas and electricity bills.
The ‘Be An Energy Shopper’ campaign, launched by energy regulator Ofgem, comes after new figures revealed one in three people are concerned about how much they are paying.
Previously, 53% of consumers said they had been confused by energy tariffs before Ofgem’s recent reforms resulted in a simpler, clearer and fairer market.
Labour AM Mr Skates said: “Consumers devote a lot of time comparing deals on cars, mobile phones and even groceries, but say energy is a hassle. It’s now easier than ever to find the best deal. Just by spending the same amount of time you do to shop for insurance plans or bank accounts, you can get a better deal on your energy bill.”
As part of the ‘Be An Energy Shopper’ campaign, an easy guide has been created online at www.goenergyshopping.co.uk. The new website provides consumers with the know-how to check existing energy deals so they can get a better tariff.
