Assembly Member Ken Skates praised the ‘happy atmosphere’ and the enthusiasm of pupils after visiting a village school.
Mr Skates, the Labour AM for Clwyd South, was given a tour of Ysgol Rhostyllen on Friday (Oct 17) by headteacher Mair Darlington, and also got the chance to chat with staff and pupils.
He said: “I really enjoyed my visit to Rhostyllen. It’s clear there’s a happy and warm atmosphere within the school which contributes to a positive learning environment. Last year Estyn rated the school’s prospects for improvement as good, and it was easy to see that Mrs Darlington and her team are dedicated to delivering the best possible outcomes for the children.
Mr Skates added: “I saw a lot of fantastic creative work on display and while I was being shown around the school the children were being introduced to the songs for their Christmas performances, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to go back in December to see them in action.”
Ysgol Rhostyllen has almost 200 pupils and Mrs Darlington has been Headteacher since 2009.
