Assembly Member Ken Skates has praised major Welsh Government investment in his constituency ahead of the official opening of brand new facilities at a local school.
The Clwyd South AM will visit new-look Ysgol Penycae later this month to see how the refurbishment – part of £2m of investment in the school – is benefiting pupils.
The renovation was made possible with funding the Welsh Labour Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education Capital Programme.
Mr Skates said: “I’m proud that Welsh Government investment is producing tangible benefits for children in Clwyd South and I’m thoroughly looking forward to visiting Ysgol Penycae in a couple of weeks to see the new facilities first-hand.
“This programme represents the largest investment in Welsh schools and colleges since the 1960s and will help achieve the Welsh Government’s aim of raising standards and delivering an education system that is a source of national pride and public confidence.”
To support this aspiration, the Welsh Government plans to overcome barriers and support learning through the provision of fit-for-purpose schools and colleges of the right size, in the right location, with the right facilities to deliver our new curriculum.
Mr Skates added: “I’m delighted that the Welsh Government is investing in the future of children in Clwyd South I’m looking forward to catching up with headteacher Tim Newbould and his team soon.”
